About Kinney's

 

Kinney's was started in 1983 by Al Kinney with the help of his wife, Patty.  An avid sportsman and outdoor enthusiast, Al was always looking for new and better products for the horseman and hunter.  It was only natural that Al's love for horses and the great outdoors would become a full-time vocation.  With the help of his wife Patty, Kinney's Saddle Shop opened in 1983.

 

Over the years Al & Patty's business grew.  Their customers wanted tepees that were both traditional and practical and tents that would withstand the extreme weather conditions of Montana.  With seven Native American Tribes in Montana and Montana being an ultimate hunting destination, it seemed only practical to add tepees and tents to the ever-growing inventory of Kinney's Saddle Shop.

 

Al decided to retire and spend more time doing what he loved; taking care of horses and hunting.  Their daughter and son-in-law, Lisa & Henry Maine with their three sons took over the business in 1996.

 

Our family has grown together with the business.  We use only the best fabrics and designs for our tepees and tents.  The tepee designs were learned from the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Tribes and our tents are designed by the years of experience with the Montana hunters.  We're still a small business - we take pride in our products and our commitment to our customers.  We hope to continue the Kinney's tradition for many years to come.
